Food is incredible- only major downside if you have a baby is NO changing table in bathrooms - please consider putting one in for families - no one wants to change babies diaper on their lap in the bathroom.

It was my husband's birthday and he was craving duck. Thanks to some wonderfully genuine IGers, we discovered this place. They had an authentic experience and satisfied my hubby's craving. As a vegetarian, I had limited options, but I got the mixed vegetables and could provide proper dining company. The place is casual, like a cafe, and some of the servers don't speak any English either. In my opinion, that adds to the experience because you feel like you're receiving the real thing. They do run out of duck - no joke - so go at opening hour. We heard tables ordering around us being told they were all out for the day.

Came with 5 others for lunch, and were able to get sat quickly. Our server brought waters for the table and gave us time to look over the menu. Food was ready quickly and portions even for lunch were large! Family style dining a great way to utilize their larger dinner portions. I ordered the Mongolian beef, it was well seasoned and had a good mix of meat and veggies (forgot to take a photo of it first so... excuse me for digging in ) and was well priced for a lunch portion.

Great authentic Chinese but I am leaning towards more taiwanese type of food. Great dining room, plenty of cold ac, and awesome server service. Big menu to choose from, Szechuan peppery spicy foods. Opted for the cold chicken dish. Nice flavor, great fresh chicken, and tender meat. The skin was had a gelatin like texture so it's a nice change of chicken. Hands down, top top walnuts shrimp, the best walnut shrimp I've had in Austin. Hoho, DinHo, 1st Chinese BBQ, none of those restaurants walnut shrimp is as good as this restaurant. Crispy, light, fluffy batter, low oil taste, firm and plum shrimp with a nice balance of sweet and moist sauce. Fresh vegetable dish, love how the broccoli and other vegetables were blanched in hot water and still kept its crispy firmness, nice balance between cooked vs raw. The orange chicken was ok, I was thrown off how it's done, it's thin, super thin chicken meat and then it's battered and fried. The orange flavor is amazing, very citrusy but I will mention I couldn't taste the meat, just the batter. Not a fan of it, I won't order it again. The fish fillets are a great dish, flash fried with a thin and light crispy batter with tender white fish meat on the inside. It tasted more salt and pepper like. Awesome dish. The star of the show is the crispy spicy chicken. Awesome tender meat, coated in light batter. Then it had a nice spicy aroma with the peppercorns. Once you bite into it, flavorful bite of Asian flavors with low oil taste. Overall I wasn't expecting to have soo much fried food. I made that mistake so next time I won't have soo much fried food but the vegetables helped cut through all the fried flavors. The restaurant comes off as a family oriented place, but if you go with your buddies and grab a couple beers, this type of food is good to drink with

Get the duck! Came here for their lunch special but they didn't offer their lunch special so I ordered the full size entree of their three meat Kung Pao. It was good Kung Pao dish and they give you plenty of rice. However, clearly the go to dish here is the duck and an entree of the Kung Pao is around $20. So I'm kicking myself for not getting 1/2 duck. Pay the extra $10 and you get duck soup and all the accouterments to make a duck crepe. If you look at almost all of the tables, everyone is getting the duck so don't make the same mistake I did. Also if you want the duck get here when they open. There was already a crowd waiting by the doors when they opened.

Bamboo House in Austin is a true gem, especially if you're a fan of authentic Chinese cuisine. I recently brought my Chinese parents here, and we were all thoroughly impressed by the quality and authenticity of the food. The Peking duck is absolutely amazing. The duck is perfectly roasted with a crispy, golden skin and tender, juicy meat. The traditional accompaniments of pancakes, hoisin sauce, and scallions make it a complete and satisfying dish. It's a must-try and one of the best Peking ducks I've had outside of China. Another standout dish is the Sui Zu Yu (broiled spicy fish pot). The fish is incredibly tender and infused with a perfect balance of spices. The broth is rich and flavorful, with just the right amount of heat to make it exciting without overpowering the delicate fish. This dish is a true representation of Sichuan cuisine and is a favorite among our family. My parents, who are very particular about Chinese food, were particularly impressed by how legit the dishes were. The authenticity and attention to detail in the preparation and presentation of the food made them feel right at home. The atmosphere at Bamboo House is warm and inviting, with a comfortable dining area that is perfect for family gatherings. The staff are friendly and attentive, ensuring that we had everything we needed throughout our meal. In summary, Bamboo House Austin is a fantastic spot for anyone seeking authentic Chinese cuisine. The Peking duck and Sui Zu Yu are standout dishes that showcase the restaurant's commitment to quality and authenticity. Highly recommended for a true taste of China in Austin!

Second time I have been here and i really like the food. Bamboo is always busy especially on the weekend so make a point to go earlier around 5:30-6pm if you want peking duck. Ordered several dishes to try between four people: tofu skin salad 7/10 Pork belly dish with code CS5 lol 8.5/10 Beef soup with sauerkraut 8.5/10 Peking Duck 8/10 I have had peking duck recently in Chinatown in Houston and I'm happy to share that Bamboo does it better. Skin is true crispy and cut super thin. Meat is fatty and their accompanying pancake for the wrap is just the right thin-ness. You dont want them super thick. The reason why I'm rating the duck lower is once you dig into the other dishes, the duck feel overly fatty and you cant eat a lot of them. Service was mininal typical of Chinese restaurant but food comes out quickly - with the exception of Peking Duck which took 45 mins from when you ordered. This is a solid Szechuan restaurant in Austin along with House of Three Gorges - I'd go back here for sure

I've been meaning to try this place and I'm so glad I did! Came in as a party of ten so we got to try a lot of the dishes. Service was super fast and food came out pretty quickly and was piping hot. Tofu with Crab Meat: this was alright to me, I didn't really taste the crab meat. Couple Beef Slice: I love this appetizer and I love that it comes cold. Super flavorful and not too heavy. Green Beans w/ Minced Pork: I love stir fried green beans and this one did not disappoint. Boiled Fish Fillets in Chili Sauce: This was one of my favorite dishes. The fish was so tender and the soup was so flavorful. There was lots of veggies inside which I loved and it was the perfect amount of spice. Definitely a must order. Honey Walnut Shrimp: The shrimp was lightly battered, super crispy, and not too sweet. Twice Cooked Pork Belly: This dish was also delicious and not too fatty. Perfect amount of spice, but be careful not to bite into a jalapeno seed. Peking Duck: Order the whole duck and you get some of the House Duck Soup. The duck skin is perfectly crisp and the duck itself is super tender. Perfect for sharing and definitely a must order--especially for a large party. Overall a great experience, the wait here can get long so definitely get there before peak hours!

This is a Popular Szechuan restaurant offering a Royal Peking duck, along with a playful mural & arcade games. In other words a Super cool Chinese eatery with authentic Szechuan taste and a great efficient service!! Nothing super fancy but wow they are fast and their food is super authentic. Love their Liyoa. Their fried rice with safaran paste and fish is amazing. But they are really known for their Imperial Peking Duck which was one of the best I ever had. The ambiance is low key and family centric.

Be wary of wait time if you want Peking duck! We waited 70 minutes for the whole duck. While delicious, the portion is much smaller than I expected. I'm very much curious where the drumsticks and wings went, as those are often considered the best part of the duck. The soup that the whole duck comes with is really yummy and comforting. For the price point, I really wish they didn't skimp out on actually giving us the *whole* duck. I'll stick to HoHo for my duck cravings.
